We visited the Ft. Worth stockyards a couple weeks ago, so here are some pictures. Paul took them on his blackberry, so they're a little fuzzy. We went on a weekend when they had a celebration of the American cowboy. It doesn't get any more cowboy then this, let me tell you. So, as soon as we got out of the car to walk to the touristy area, it smelled like cowpies, leather and sweat. Mmmm! There is a main street (Commerce Dr) where all the shops, saloons and restaurants are located. We stopped in some of the shops, mostly to escape the 105 degree heat and laugh our heads off at some of the souvenirs. As you can tell from the pictures, they have some pretty fun things to buy. Also, Paul had to try the Ft. Worth famous "Buffalo Butt " beer.
Ft. Worth is home to the only twice daily cattle drive, down the main street of the stockyards. They round up about 20 head of longhorn and drive them on horseback through the streets. It was pretty cool. The longhorns' horns were about 4-5 feet long, not the kind of animal you want to have a stare down with. These guys mean business!
We are still pluggin away at the house paperwork. We had to sign the acceptance statement for the seller a 3rd time, because of all the updates they always forget to include. Ahhhh! This is the part of foreclosures that I heard about. That it quickly becomes a nightmare of paperwork and delays! So, because of all their fartin' around, we had to delay our closing 2 weeks, so we now have less time to get the place fixed up before we need to move in. Oh well, I'm keeping my fingers crossed it will all work out in the end!
"longhorns' horns"....woo hoo! way to use the correct possessive!!! not many adults can do this...
